Digital Leaders Annual Lecture in Parliament

Hosting the Digital Leaders Annual Lecture 2024 and welcoming our lecturer to Parliament this year is Samantha Niblett MP, newly elected Labour Member of Parliament for South Derbyshire and Founder of Labour’s Women in Tech.

Our lecturer this year is Gilles Babinet. He is a leading voice in France about AI as Co-Chair of France’s Digital Council. His nationwide “AI Café” initiative has been at the heart of efforts to meet all those who wish to debate AI, including millions of French people, young and old, small business owners and students. The result of this work is part of a report he recently presented to President Macron. Gilles will talk about France’s relationship with AI, the opportunities of this technology to power future growth, concerns around safety and opportunities for France and the UK to work more closely on AI as our two countries prepare for the next Global AI Safety Summit in France next February 2025.

Gilles Babinet is both a highly successful entrepreneur and France’s Digital Champion. He is passionate about new technologies, politics and social issues. An entrepreneur since the age of 22 he has taken on many responsibilities in the French digital landscape. He is currently: Co-Chair of France’s Digital Council; an associate Professor at INSP and HEC and a member of the French Prime Minister’s Generative AI Committee.

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion and networking drinks.
