ABOUT DIEGO
Hailing from from Costa Rica, pianist Diego Suarez began his musical studies at the University of Costa Rica. His formative training includes mentorship from Edwin Marin, Flora Elizondo, and Manuel Matarrita. He continued his education at the College of Charleston under Enrique Graf and Volodymyr Vynnytsky, followed by graduate studies at Shenandoah University with Ieva Jokubaviciute and John O’Conor, and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Georgia studying with Evgeny Rivkin. He is currently pursuing a Professional Performance Certificate here at Lynn, in the studio of Dr. Roberta Rust.
Diego won first prize at the Atlanta Music Club Competition and was a finalist in the University of Georgia Concerto Competition. He has performed with the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra and the College of Charleston Orchestra, and participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Leon Fleisher, Vladimir Feltsman, Vadym Kholodenko, and Jeremy Denk. Notably, he performed Chopin’s 24 Etudes at age 16 and Liszt’s 12 Transcendental Etudes at age 18. Outside of music, he enjoys hiking, walking on the beach, and watching movies.
