Grace Kelly plays the wife of a famous tennis player who has recently decided to retire from professional sport to focus on his life with her in London. The act of love is short-lived when he discovers she has not been so faithful during his years on the tournament trail. When he gets his hands on one of their correspondents it sends him into a plot of blackmail and murder.
Dial M for Murder is a bold introduction to his 1950s technicolor era. Much of the visual style can be seen as a bridge between the black and white photography he had most used previously and the upcoming run of color masterpieces. Originally filmed in 3-D the film includes an intermission despite its run time due to technical restraints of the film stock.
