About this Event
This one of a kind Dermal-Fascial Restoration®/DFR ® Introductory Workshop is an intensive one- day discovery and experience lab-course taught by the founder of DFR, Dr. Paul Mettler, PT, DPT, Dr. Anil Joseph, DPT, and Lisa Albert Level 3 FST.
This Dermal-Fascial Restoration Introductory workshop is to gain an appreciation and understanding for the importance of systematically evaluating and treating the structural interconnections between the skin, fascia, muscle, and periosteum that can stiffen/densify with injury, infection, or immobility. DFR can often rapidly identify and precisely restore “the issue in the tissue”.
A key question to be answered with dysfunctional tissue is: Can the tissue interfaces tolerate shear forces imparted during precisely loaded and unloaded movement, contraction or lengthening? Straight downward pressure doesn’t reorganize tissue. It compresses it. Skin, fascia, and muscle all get pushed together. The tissue deforms, the circulatory and nervous system react, and sensation increases. But nothing shears the injured tissue so it can tolerate loading or stretching differently. The problem isn’teffort. It’s the input. Objective ways of evaluation, application and reassessment of treatment effectiveness will be presented. Experienced STW instructors will speak to how FST and DFR can complement each other.
