About this Event
In the tradition of heartfelt folk music, acoustic singer-songwriter Devi Roisman’s soaring vocals and vulnerable storytelling return to The Back Room.
She is delighted to share a body of new & old work and will be joined by a phenomenal crew of collaborators: Meirav Roisman (vocals), Marie Szuts (viola da gamba), Jolana Bishay (vocals), Jason Rabineau (guitar), Rachel Heron (vocals), Pete Weiss (accordion & mandolin), Phil Gorman (piano & trumpet), & Troy Lush (guitar & piano).
Devi’s songs tenderly find their way into the life’s vulnerable, heartbreaking, and joyful moments. Her storytelling is honed from perspective as a mother, daughter, granddaughter, midwife, dancer, and meaning-seeker. Devi’s songs reach into the human psyche, touching loss, identity, friendship, and love in its many guises.

This special evening will also serve as a fundraiser for a project that integrates Devi’s passions for music & midwifery - Alameda Health System’s Centering Lullaby Project, which pairs birthing families with musicians to write personal lullabies for their children.
