About this Event
Join the 3rd Ward Real Estate Council for an immersive, hands-on workshop designed to move ideas from paper to project. This session stands out because participants will be workshopping a live, available site—not a case study. Attendees will leave with practical knowledge, sample materials, and a roadmap to take immediate steps toward developing the featured quadplex or launching their own.
Learning Objectives
• Understand the fundamentals of missing middle housing.
• Learn how to analyze a site for small-scale development.
• Explore financing, design, and permitting considerations.
• Gain real-world insight into collaboration across disciplines.
This Filling the Missing Middle workshop is led by Jason Hyman, real estate broker/owner and principal planner of The Office of Jason T. Hyman alongside facilitator Garland Harris, owner and principal designer of Missing Middle Design Co.
Jason Hyman leverages a 20 year background in real estate, public/private finance, and urban planning to guide developers and investors through the hurdles of Houston infill development. With thousands in transaction volume and having managed multi-million dollar portfolios, Jason utilizes his expertise to deploy innovative revitalization strategies and capital stacks to reduce the risk of investment in inner city neighborhoods. After a successful career in architectural design, Garland Harris founded Missing Middle Design Co. in order to provide developers and builders with innovative designs for townhouses, small multi-family projects, garage apartments (ADUs), narrow lot projects, and small house plans. His creative approach can be seen in dozens of projects around the country.
