Abstract:
Participants will engage in a series of mathematics activities and unpack how to best support learners' development in two foundational areas- fluency and problem solving. Resources that are open and freely available will be used, examined, and shared in an effort to increase participants' awareness of opportunities to consider how to best support learners.
Objectives:
- Describe stages of counting and early number sense and activities that support progression across stages
- Examine and analyze perspectives and processes used to develop students' basic fact fluency
- Examine and analyze perspectives and processes used to develop students' problem solving and reasoning skills
