Summary
Whistleblowers are still reporting to NHS England that although they have spoken up in their organisation, it has made no difference. (Annual Report on Whistleblowing Disclosures 2022/23). Much progress has been made in organisations to create psychologically safe spaces for workers, so what’s happening? How can HR professionals continue to develop healthy speak up cultures?
Aim:
The aim of this workshop is for HR and OD practitioners to bring their skills and knowledge together to explore good practices to enable healthy speak up cultures. It will examine the synergies and challenges between HR and speaking up processes and develop greater collaboration, transparency and trust.
By the end of the session you will:
- Examine responding to policy whilst ensuring inclusion and belonging
- Owning up to your fears and challenges
- The power bases of HR
- Principles for building collaboration, transparency and trust
- Valuing speaking up and seeing the bigger picture
- Action planning and sustainability

Up until recently Audrey successfully worked with an ambitious team to develop the national Freedom to Speak up support scheme within the NHS supporting individuals who have been adversely affected as result of speaking up.
Audrey is a skilled and passionate individual who thrives on developing individual’s potential and supporting organisations to build healthy cultures for their workers to grow and thrive. Audrey continues to work with leaders to build strong leadership capabilities and values.
Audrey is the author of two books and a ‘rookie’ songwriter.
