Detroit Love
Detroit is a city rich in music culture, from Blues, Jazz, Motown, Punk, Hip-Hop, Pop and, of course, Techno. Recognized as one of the greatest in the world for its musical output, it is also a city whose artists have so much love and pride for their heritage. Amidst the city’s problems over the years, the inspiration remains strong and many of the artists from Detroit are innovators of electronic music.
Creating landscapes through sound, music from originators Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Carl Craig, Moodymann, Underground Resistance, Stacey Pullen, Kenny Larkin, Robert Hood, Recloose, Octave One and many more have influenced people the world over, and without them, the music of today would not be what it is. They have also paved the way for newer artists like Seth Troxler, Kyle Hall, Lee Curtiss, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Jay Daniel; each artist uniquely taking the melodic and unforgettable sounds of Detroit in to the future.
‘Detroit Love’ is a new concept from Carl Craig, designed to bring together and support the sounds of Detroit and take a little of the techno brotherhood to clubs and festivals the world over.

Carl Craig is a multi-disciplined visionary whose eclectic tastes and influences all converge into his “main discipline” – Carl Craig. The Detroit pioneer’s lifelong pursuit of independence and self-gratification is the catalyst behind three decades of innovation and achievement within the realm of electronic music. His standing within Motor City’s highly influential techno fraternity places him at the forefront of the global community, inspiring future generations of techno enthusiasts since he got started. As the mastermind behind Planet E Communications, Carl conceived and nurtured a platform that preserves his independence, while also providing a liberating space for a range of international artists. From the beginning Carl and his label have consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity, in turn stimulating the growth and evolution of techno, ensuring its progressive ethos is at the centre of his endeavours. A natural born fighter, Carl’s determination, innate gift for channelling emotion into his work and unwavering commitment to his freedom have established him as a master of his craft.
Moodymann
Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann has emerged as one of Detroit’s most enigmatic and most successful house producers. Perfecting a unique blend of samples and original instrumentation KDJ’s music is different and original than typical house. Drenched in soul, funk and jazz KDJ gathers the full force of his musical influences and recontextualizes them within the house genre. His material ranges from the slow and moody to the up beat and energetic. Another quality label that keeps the spirit of good soulful house music alive.
KDJ is Kenny Dixon jr – aka Moodyman.Moodyman combines classic soul and jazz samples, low-slung bass in many of his tracks that always manage to create a captivating scope of sounds keeping you hooked in the groove from start to finish. This style of strong soul and blues-tinged tech house music is able to combine the original disco sound with the more deeper approach to production that has been more apparent with the producers of Detroit.
