This a virtual instructor led webinar and will be on the Zoom platform. You must have a Zoom account in order to enter this webinar.

This course will provide you with enough information about the following: Introduction to Business Entities; Business Entities in Texas and description of Focus on LLC; establishing and know the benefits of the LLC. You will absorb enough information about business entities and business law to know when to retain an attorney. A key objective of the class is to give the attendees a general comfort level with the concept of business entities, business law, CPAs and accountants, and business attorneys. Knowing when to solicit professional advice is a critical component in controlling cash outflows of a young business while maintaining appropriate protections for the business owner.

This class is taught by a University of Texas Instructor and counts toward the 6-course requirement needed to earn your Business Skills Certification.

About the Instructor:

James Howard is a business attorney with practice experience in a wide range of sectors. James has helped small companies, start-ups, and large multi-state and international enterprises with entity formation, investment, financing, target acquisition, and company sales. James also provides assistance in operational matters affecting businesses on a day-to-day basis, such as employee/consultant issues and vendor/customer contract negotiation.

How do I access the class after registering?

You will receive instructions in your confirmation email.

What happens if I arrive late or have to leave early?

Since the class is fast paced, you must be in the room within 20 minutes of the start time. You also can not miss more than 20 minutes of the class. If you do, you will not receive credit and you must re-take the class to count toward the Business Skills Certification.

Do I need to complete the evaluation?

Yes. Your feedback is important to us. By completing the evaluation, this ensures you have completed the webinar. The completed evaluation also guarantees you will receive credit toward the Business Skills Certification. If the evaluation is not submitted, the class will not apply to the Business Skills Certification.

Does this class apply to the Business Skills Certification Program?

Yes. You must complete the webinar and return the class survey.

Can I combine in-person classes and online classes to receive my Business Skills Certification?

Yes. Both classes apply to Business Skills Certification. It is dependent on you to contact the Business Skills Certification liaison when you have completed the required six classes.

If I can no longer attend the class, can I transfer my registration to another class or day?

Yes. You can request a transfer up to 1 day before the event. You will need to contact the Small Business Program at [email protected].
