About this Event
You must have heard of many folklores of Palo Alto, the birth place of silicon valley. Have you ever thought of visiting downtown Palo Alto on University Ave., during a civic parade and fair, walking the streets and side alleys, see history and culture, see the people in action, see local life live?
Palo Alto is having its 102nd annual May Fête Parade & Fair on May 2nd the Sat., in the morning hours. And we are organizing a group visit there, to be immersed in the civic life of a historical downtown.
Our events are not only for the cultural experiences, but also for the social connections between each other. We have organized quite a few trips to visit the huge parades & festivals in the city. This is a local try using what we learned while organizing those events. Things we plan to do:
0. If we got time, we will visit the parade staging area, see how a parade is organized.
1 Group walk the parade, either in it or along side it, depending how big a group we have.
2. History & Culture themed social games, in parade / fair and after. We have learned some tricks in connecting people up in SF events, we are going to apply them here.
3. Volunteer T-shirts. Well, we are a volunteer social org., so if you happen to have volunteered some where, welcome to join us. If you have a volunteer T-shirt in your closet, wear it to the walk.
4. Group lunch in downtown.
