Spanning genres and disciplines, Dessa’s style is defined by tenderness, ferocity, candor, and wit. As a musician, she’s co-composed for large choirs; crowd-surfed at rock clubs; recorded a live album with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra; and contributed a track to the #1 album The Hamilton Mixtape. Her TED Talk, which recounts her science experiment on how to fall out of love, has notched more than 5 million views. She’s written for The New York Times and National Geographic Traveler; hosted two seasons of a podcast for the BBC; and published several poetry books and literary collections including the memoir-in-essays My Own Devices (Penguin Random House).
Dessa’s musical career began in earnest when she was asked to join Minneapolis’ Doomtree collective, the hip-hop crew known for bold production, charismatic lyricists, and explosive live shows. She started touring hard as a solo act after her 2010 release A Badly Broken Code. Since then, she’s released 5 more full-length albums, working across sounds and styles while keeping her razor-sharp writing front and center.
YOMCHI
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Yomchi (Godwin Agbara) has gained the attention of music industry professionals across the U.S. with his aesthetics and flavorful sounds.
At the age of 15, his career started. When his first single “Disconnected” was released on the compilation album “Take Note Vol 1.” with Notes for Notes Studios in 2018. Since then, he has continued to grow individually, as he has started working with Green Tea Studios, and Signal Music Group (distributing through EMPIRE) in early 2025. As well as gaining notice of artists like WRRY.
With his experience with performing for audiences up to 1,200 people through various theatrical productions, Yomchi has continued to perform shows and stun crowds with his precense. With no signs of stopping anytime soon.
OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS
All advanced tickets are will-call, e-ticket, or print-at-home. No physical tickets will be delivered for the performance. When you buy in advance, your name will appear on a list at the door to assure your entry.
Online sales close at 6pm the day of the show. If you missed the window for online sales, doors open at 8pm for tickets. The show is not- we repeat - NOT SOLD OUT unless specified in advance. Please do not call the restaurant to inquire about or reserve tickets. Tickets are only available online or at the door.
The Plus is a full service bar and restaurant. Alcoholic beverages are available for the 21+ crowd. Food and beverages can be ordered from the bar area and brought into the performance space. The Plus is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs or other ambulatory devices.
The Plus reserves the right to refuse entry or deny service to anyone engaging in disruptive or disrespectful behavior. If this occurs and you are asked to leave the show, there will be no refunds.
