Aimed at beginners and those with a basic knowledge of designing with hand embroidery processes, this six-week evening course will take you from basic foundation stitches to more advanced and highly decorative, textural hand stitches. You’ll also learn how to employ these technical skills creatively through drawing to ensure that all the designs produced are highly personal and unique. All fabrics, threads, needles, hoops and other materials will be provided and you’ll be encouraged to use traditional and unusual threads and embellishments for a truly mixed media approach.The class takes place in our working studio in East London. We are located just off Broadway Market in the heart of London’s most fashionable area. The workshop is taught by Studio owner Andrew Kenny, Ellie Sweeney and couture hand embroiderer Alice Richardson and takes inspiration from their personal research. This is our only workshop to concentrate entirely on designing with hand embroidery processes and once participants have mastered these fundamental skills, they often go on to book our more advanced courses.
