Training for the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead within voluntary groups and charities
About this Event

Introduction:

As part of the overall safeguarding for your organisation it is good practice for charities and voluntary groups to have a person in the organisation who acts as the lead on safeguarding concerns. This person is often referred to as the Designated Safeguarding Officer or Designated Person, and is responsible for handling safeguarding concerns raised by staff, volunteers or service users in the organisation, and then reporting them through to Social Care. Some organisations may find that this role is best shared between a DSL and a Deputy DSL. As this course builds on previous knowledge of safeguarding practices, attendees must have completed Safeguarding Children and/or Safeguarding Adults training (whichever is relevant to your services) before attending this course. If you are unsure, please check with us. By the end of this course you will understand:

1. The role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead

2. The internal safeguarding processes that are needed within your organisation

3. The external safeguarding processes that are needed between your organisation and Social Care

4. How to manage a disclosure

5. The ongoing process

6. How to manage allegations within your organisation

7. How to achieve a safer workforce

8. What to do if the process doesn't seem to work

This is a practical training session with scenarios to work through. You will also receive training materials.
