About this Event
It is often easy to walk past the architectural gems on our own doorstep. So, you’re invited to join an uplifting lunchtime guided walk to discover and celebrate some incredible landmark buildings, from many eras, within the Fleet Street Quarter.
We will explore the warren of winding backstreets, home to famous writer Dr Johnson, and his beloved cat. We will admire the craftsmanship and design features of the statement buildings from the heyday of newspaper journalism. And we’ll marvel at the iconic spire of one of Sir Christopher Wren’s most beautiful churches, and hear how it inspired a local chef.
Continuing the theme of Voices from this summer’s London Festival of Architecture, we will be invited to consider how we connect with, and respond to, these different spaces. We will also listen to the changing acoustics and soundscapes. Our final stop is the sculpture ‘Whispers’ by award-winning Polish designer, Oskar Zieta.
Our walk is led by accredited City of London guide Sarah Williams-Robbins, aka Mrs Londoner. Follow Sarah’s adventures on Instagram @meetmrslondoner
