About this Event

Our Beginner Garment Making Workshop is perfect for those new to sewing or looking to refresh their skills. In this hands-on class, you will create your self designed Top— a beautiful beginner-friendly garment that helps you build strong sewing foundations while creating a stylish finished piece you can proudly wear.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn how to plan your design , pick a commercial pattern and modify it , choose a fabric accurately , essential sewing terminology, how to thread and operate a sewing machine, and a wide range of practical sewing techniques used in garment making.

During the workshop, we will focus on all the essentials to cut and sew clothing, including how to work with non-stretch fabrics, hemming, creating clean finishes with facings for armholes and necklines, sewing darts for shaping, and understanding how to use a commercial sewing pattern.

Your Top will be designed to teach you these key techniques while staying accessible for beginners.


8 Hours of Instruction Includes:

  • One online session where the instructor will show you how to use a commercial pattern as a base for your design, suggest some simple design ideas and overview the basics of fabric and color choice.
  • Tools provided
  • Sewing machines available (you are also welcome to bring your own)
  • Detailed and illustrated instruction manual to take home
  • Access to our digital patterns that you can print at home

Fabric and notions are not included.

Please note: This class is for participants aged 16 and over. No prerequisite required — this workshop is fully beginner friendly.

This retreat is open to beginners 16+ — no experience needed.

Tools, machines, and patterns are all provided (you’re welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer). fabric and trimm are in addition ( we will provide a list of material and providers at registration ) Just bring your curiosity, and a willingness to spend the day making something beautiful. Access to your digital patterns that you can bring home to recreate your garment.

Date: Saturday, June 13: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PMand Sunday, June 14: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Online Session June 3rd 6pm-7:30pm ( we will send the replay if you cannot attend )
