Desdemona Roopakam is a concert–theatre production directed by Abhishek Majumdar that reimagines Othello through feminist lenses rooted in Indian mythology and performance traditions.Featuring musicians MD Pallavi and Bindhumalini Narayanaswamy, the work blends Hindustani, Carnatic, and folk music with spoken word and theatre.
Drawing from Yakshagana, Harikatha, and contemporary forms, it revisits Desdemona’s story—questioning silence, reclaiming voice, and reimagining her through women’s perspectives.
