About this Event
Join us for another free tree planting opportunity at DePaul College Prep on Friday, the 3rd of May! This planting will support the school's urban agriculture class work by building out their food production already being done by their garden and greenhouse. We will not only plant 23 native tree species that will provide food and ecological benefits but also provide training at the start of the event to help you learn how to properly plant and care for trees yourself. We will also talk about proper tree care as well as food forests and how anyone can get involved.
No experience is necessary, and everyone is are welcome! As a volunteer, you will work alongside the CRTI team and other fantastic volunteers to help us dig planting spaces, get the trees in the ground, and mulch them.
There are only a things you need to do prior to the event!:
- Complete this registration prior to attending and include your email, phone number, and zip code in case of last-minute schedule changes due to severe weather and so we can see where we might have another event!
- Wear long pants and close toed shoes for the planting.
- Dress for the weather- we will plant rain or shine!
- Make sure to bring a full water bottle, a snack, and sunscreen. We will take care of everything else!
