Demystifying Soft Tissue Issues: Identification and Management of Soft Tissue Defects

Course Description: This course is intended to provide dentists with the fundamental knowledge to diagnose and treat soft tissue defects, such as gingival recession, insufficient gingival thickness/height, vertical/horizontal soft tissue deficiencies, at teeth and implant sites. We will be discussing the fundamentals of soft tissue grafting, material selection and surgical techniques. There will also be an in-depth discussion of treatment planning, which includes case selection, treatment sequencing and selection of surgical techniques.
Learning Objectives:
- Diagnose and identify the etiology of soft tissue defects around teeth & implants
- Discuss the rationale and treatment planning for soft tissue grafting
- Review soft tissue grafting materials: autografts, allografts and xenografts
- Discuss and compare surgical techniques for treatment of soft tissue defects
- Discuss the management and timing of soft tissue defects around implants
