About this Event
Description:
Financial literacy skills are essential to improving the long-term outcomes of opportunity youth. When young people understand key concepts like budgeting, saving, and managing credit, they are better equipped to make strong financial decisions in their first job and throughout their career. However, financial literacy can be a daunting topic for youth and a challenging one for educators to teach effectively. This workshop aims to help youth workforce partners understand how to make financial literacy more accessible for the communities they serve.
Using the Level All platform as a model, the workshop will highlight unique ways of breaking down complex, high-level financial topics into approachable and engaging steps. Attendees will then participate in an interactive, hands-on activity where they will practice balancing a budget. Following the activity, attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback and discuss specific use cases for applying these techniques within their own organizations. Additionally, one of Level All’s partners, the Connecticut Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, will also share how they utilized the Level All platform to strengthen the financial literacy of participants in their summer youth employment program.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will leave with practical, actionable strategies for embedding financial literacy into their programming. They will also receive the materials for the budgeting activity, which they can easily implement with the youth that they serve.
