Trump is becoming a loony, lame duck at a pace faster than he can waddle. He seems tired and unwell. Trump's approval ratings are dropping as fast as the big New Year's Ball in Times Square.
Fox News' 12/21/25 poll found 55% of U.S. voters "extremely" concerned about health care costs with another 30% "very" concerned. Their biggest concern is the exploding cost of health insurance premiums. A Navigator Research 12/16/25 survey showed 57% disapproval of Trump's handling of healthcare down 21% from April 2025. Navigator also reported 14% or 1/6th of Trump 2024 voters now regret their vote mainly because of the economy. A Reuters poll last month found that Trump's disapproval rating on the economy is up to 58%. For the first time in 2025, in the last weeks of December, a YouGov poll indicated that "strong approval" of Trump by Republicans has dropped below 50% down from almost 75% in January and February of 2025.

Rachel Maddow urges us to believe that it is the anti-Trump protests springing up all around the nation that have tanked Trump's approval ratings. The huge 10/18/25 NO KINGS rallies across the country did get insideTrump's head - much like RFK Jr's brain worm. A couple days later on 10/20/25, like a sore loser, Trump started tearing down the East Wing of the White House. I have often bragged that our rowdy Saturday protests in Monument Square will bring the walls of MAGA Jericho tumbling down.
But congratulate ourselves not too much. My cynical side gives lots of hard-earned credit to mad King Trump and his cruel, bungling courtiers like Stephen Miller, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Kristi Noem. Like Jack Smith said about the January 6th and the Mar-a-Lago prosecutions, as Special counsel, he and his team gathered abundant evidence and sought the indictments against Donald Trump; independent grand juries issued true bills asserting probable cause to charge Trump and his accomplices with multiple, serious criminal offenses. Jack Smith insists, however, that it was Donald Trump himself who brazenly committed the various crimes charged with a little help from his friends. Credit where it is due, Donald Trump is engineering his own downfall even as he continues to wreak havoc on our democratic institutions, our constitutional rights, and our neighbors least equipped to defend themselves.
Though optimistic in the long run, Heather Cox Richardson warns that things will get worse in 2026 before they get better. Trump is wounded and dangerous with many levers of power still clutched in his small, bandaged hands. Alas we will still need to show up in Monument Square every Saturday 11 am to noon to rattle the sagging walls of MAGA Jericho. See you there.
