This is a four part series designed to support family, friend, and professional caregivers of people living with dementia.
About this Event

The Care Empowerment Series: Supporting Lives Affected by Dementia includes four 60-

minute sessions:

Session 1 – Identifying Unmet Needs

This foundational session helps caregivers understand behavior as a meaningful form of

communication. Caregivers will learn practical ways to observe patterns, decode distress, and respond with empathy

rather than urgency.

Session 2 – Caring for Yourself While Caring for Them

Caring for someone living with dementia is meaningful, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding. Participants will learn how to recognize signs of stress and burnout, set compassionate boundaries, and build simple, sustainable self-care practices into everyday routines.

Session 3 – Supporting Quality of Life Through Communication and Meaningful Participation

In this session, caregivers will learn how changes in communication and thinking affect daily participation, relationships, and emotional well-being. Practical communication strategies will be shared to support understanding, reduce frustration, and increase engagement in everyday activities. The focus is on preserving dignity, purpose, and connection.

Session 4 – The Power of Brain Health in Dementia Care

This final session explores how lifestyle factors, routines, and supportive environments can help maintain cognitive function and emotional well-being. Participants will learn how to incorporate brain health principles into daily care through communication, activity selection, and habit-building strategies that support autonomy and meaningful connection.
