Join us each month for DelArt Nights, where art, community, and creativity come alive in fresh and exciting ways. Taking place on select Thursday evenings, October to April, each event features music and an immersive arts and culture experience—from engaging gallery experiences and performances to hands-on arts and crafts. Guests can enjoy a festive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for socializing, along with a full bar and delicious food available for purchase. Every DelArt Night is unique, with free general admission and ever-changing cultural elements. No two nights are the same. For the month of March, we are bringing back Poetry as Activism with a new theme and artists lineup. This year’s theme If my body could talk… honors how our bodies bear witness to lived experiences, both relatable and sometimes unfamiliar. Poetry As Activism celebrates the power of Black and Brown women’s voices through a poetry celebration showcasing women poets and visual artists. These celebrations explore activism through poetry performance readings and a visual art display.
This year’s visual art component Black Women: A Tree of Many Branches, merges the natural work with the human element to explore how Black and Brown women’s bodies hold memory, story, resilience, and ancestral knowledge. Created by photographer Shannon Woodloe in conversation with the Poetry as Activism, this multimedia interactive will create a space for intergenerational connection through technology for all in attendance.
Our HERstorical cathartic narratives will offer a range of perspectives that honor ancestral, spiritual, and natural connections in this global world in which we live. We heal each other by subjectively looking at ourselves and sharing our uncensored stories. Most notably, the evening serves as a reminder that our differences and similarities intersect, connecting our humanity and honoring our narratives as TRUTH.
