About the DeGroote Fellowship Lecture Series

The DeGroote Fellowship Lecture Series promotes the exchange of ideas between business and academia. Business leaders provide lectures at the DeGroote School of Business in partnership with faculty members. The aim is to create two-way mobilization channels to bring the current developments and challenges of the industry closer to the academic community, and to share research with the industry to facilitate future partnerships.

About the Lecture:

North America has set out on a path for clean, sustainable electrical energy to achieve our Net Zero 2050 goal. This requires heavy investment in our electrical systems—generation, transmission, distribution (the grid), and the devices we use every day, including our vehicles. Our electrical grid needs unprecedented replacement, renewal, and expansion, which depends on robust supply chains for essential equipment. To create a sustainable supply chain, substantial work is needed. The lecture will identify challenges and opportunities within this massive growth market.

Speakers:

  • Ron Harper, CEO and President of JFE Shoji Power Canada. JFE Shoji Power Canada, based in Burlington, plays a crucial role in the North American supply chain for electrical steels used in power generation equipment, motors, power and distribution transformers, and specialized magnetic components.
  • Dr. Elkafi Hassini, Professor of Operations Management at the DeGroote School of Business.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights into the future of sustainable electric grid supply chains and network with industry and academic leaders.
