About this Event
You’re invited to take part in an upcoming Defra workshop taking place at Borderway Livestock Market, Carlisle from 18:00–20:00 on 25.03.2026.
In January 2026, the Secretary of State for Defra announced that £30 million will be invested over the next three years in a new approach to farm collaboration – the Farmer Collaboration Fund.
We’re bringing together farmers to help shape this new approach. Your insight and experience are invaluable-. We want to hear directly from you about what matters most, what challenges you face, and what opportunities you see ahead.
What to expect
- A general update on wider Defra policy
- A 1.5‑hour in‑person workshop, hosted and facilitated by Defra staff:
· A short introduction to the new Farmer Collaboration Fund
- Small‑table discussions, each supported by a Defra facilitator
· Discussion topics including:
o Any major concerns or worries you would like to raise about the Farmer Collaboration Fund
o Who would be best suited in your area to help us deliver the Farmer Collaboration Fund?
o How to involve farmers who aren’t currently part of collaboration groups
o What support or actions facilitators could help farmers explore
o How the funding can be spent most effectively
· Space for open conversation—guided by a few questions, but led by your priorities
· An opportunity to ask questions, share views, and contribute to shaping future support
Why your participation matters
The Farmer Collaboration Fund will support practical, farmer-led approaches. These workshops will help us consider perspectives from farmers across the country. We are keeping numbers limited to ensure meaningful, in‑depth discussions.
Refreshments will be provided.
We hope you’ll join us and be part of this important conversation.
