About this Event
Instructor: Dr. Susan Lingle
How similar is the cry of a newborn deer, bat, seal, or human? This workshop will begin with a short visual tour of the McIntyre Ranch, a significant native rough fescue grassland in southern Alberta, and an introduction to the Lingle Lab’s long-term research on coyotes, white-tailed deer and mule deer. Dr. Lingle will then introduce methods in animal communication that her lab used to test the similarity of cries made by different species. The lab’s research has helped to reveal the tremendous evolutionary heritage in the way humans and other animals communicate and respond to emotions.
