A structured contact improvisation jam fostering deep listening and engagementOur evening will begin with warming up our minds and bodies in meditation, solo dancing and stretching. Then we will play round-robin, where participants are seated in a circle and some participants move to the center to dance, and then we switch out who is dancing and who is observing. This game will eventually transition into an open jam. The end of the evening will be a time for short (3 minute) structured improvised performances. Participants will have a chance to signup, and indicate any kind of structure they want for their performance (for example: music, an interactive-mobile audience, movement parameters, etc). The evening will have periods of silent dance, and dancing to improvised live music.
Facilitators: Kathryn Frey (Portland), Aaron Finbloom (Portland)
Cost $10-20
This event is open to all levels of experience in contact improvisation (that said, those with some familiarity with the practice may feel more at ease as we will not be providing technical instruction or introductory grounding & explanation)
