About this Event
Deep Dish Listening is a community initiative program that is supported by the JGI-New Orleans Creative Hub, a part of the Jazz Generations Initiative.
This series provides an intimate setting for audiences to engage in deep listening for an entire album or various albums. After listening is over, there will be dialogue about the album, its connection with the Gulf and Global South and jazz studies.
This program is featuring renown international recording artist Yusa and celebrated DJ, artist, and producer Diego Martín-Pérez. They will discuss the genre salsa highlighting various artists, the history of the genre, the techniques of the musician, the socio-cultural circumstances that created the music, and the significance of the Circum-Caribbean, Cuba, Puerto Rico in shaping the music.
This event is free and open to the public.
Refreshments will be provided.
