Come join Jazz Generations Initiative New Orleans for Deep Dish Listening with Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes and Cole Williams. Deep Dish Listening is an opportunity for audiences to listen to vinyl and hear from experts on different genres of music in a relaxed and informal setting. We are excited to explore Louisiana Creole music with two impactful and renowned artists from our Gulf South community.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

BIOS
Bruce Sunpie Barnes is a New Orleans musician, book author, ethnographic and wildlife photographer. Sunpie is also the Big Chief of the Northside Skull and Bone Gang, one the oldest Afro-Creole carnival groups in the United States, which began its traditions in 1819. He is a 22-year member of the Black Men of Labor Social Aid and Pleasure Club and the band leader of the popular New Orleans musical group Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots. His latest book and cd project is entitled Le Kèr Creole (The Creole Heart) which he co-authored with Rachel Breunlin and Leroy Etienne.
Cole Williams is a Jamaican-American singer-songwriter, actress, producer, broadcaster, and community organizer. She is the lead vocalist of the Cole Williams Band and the host of The New Orleans Music Show on WWOZ 90.7 FM. Williams has appeared on and Big Freedia Means Business. In 2024, she released How We Care for Humanity through Four Corners Records, with the lead single "A Better Woman" appearing on The Originals Vol. 3 compilation. Williams appeared on WWL-TV’s Chip Forstall Sound Stage, performing and discussing her new music.
Williams co-hosted the 2025 Jazz & Heritage Gala and joined the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation as Manager of Community Partnerships and Arts Advocacy. She has composed jingles for local organizations and participated in music programs and festivals in New Orleans. Since 2023, Williams has hosted the Big Easy Cruise.
