Join us Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Sycamore Park at 10 am, for the dedication of "Energetic", a new public art project for Sycamore Park by artist Blessing Hancock. After the dedication, there will be an artist's talk by Blessing Hancock, which will take place at 11 am at the Sycamore Community Center.

Blessing Hancock’s Energetic is a dynamic, illuminated sculpture that plays with light, shadow, and color. It stands as a new icon for Sycamore Park, thoughtfully reflecting both its natural beauty and the spirit of its residents. Its harmonious figure-eight shape symbolizes unity and togetherness, representing the diverse community as a cohesive whole. Placed along the walking trail, this sculpture offers a new way to live with art that enriches our experience and creates an atmosphere of participation. Blessing’s creative process included thoughtful community collaboration. The text within the sculpture was collected from neighbors during the park’s Juneteenth celebration in 2023, making this piece not only about the community, but created with it.
