About this Event
Join Artists and Paintmakers Rebecca and Pip as they share their new Dedicated Natural Paint System.
The colour industry relies heavily on synthetic organic and inorganic industrially produced pigments, derived from petro-chemicals and metal compounds.
The binding agents for paints also tend to be from industrial manufacture or by-products from the petro-chemical industry.
Rebecca and Pip have created the Dedicated Natural Paint System using only binders from plant bases from small scale, bespoke production (for example, cold-pressed linseed oil from a single estate farm); gums and starches from seasonal crops.
The colours used are derived from small crop yields of plant and animal (insect) pigments and natural earths and minerals, where the quarries have existed for many centuries as bespoke centres of colour production (Provence, Cyprus, etc).
Their vision is founded on the principle that colour from nature is viable now and for the future.
The aim of the Dedicated Natural Paint System is to give the discerning artist the opportunity to choose to work with colours that cause less harm to our environment and help to reduce carbon footprint.
Places are free but limited. There are spaces for 20 people.
We ask that anyone who books a place and cannot attend, advises us at least one week prior to the event so we can re-offer the space.
Rebecca and Pip will be available after the workshop to discuss things further.
