Manchester Psychoanalytic Matrix discussion with ANDRÉA GUERRA (Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil) and SURYIA NAYAK (University of Salford) moderated by LAYA HOOSHYARI (University of Manchester) on Wednesday 19 November at 2pm to 4pm in Room A2.16, Ellen Wilkinson Building, University of Manchester. This event is organised jointly with PIA (Power, Inequality, Activism) group at University of Manchester.
ANDRÉA GUERRA is a university professor in the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Psychology in Brazil. She works with a decolonial perspective in Psychoanalysis, pursuing political, theoretical, and clinical efforts aimed at truly transforming the conditions of alienation and subordination in the face of neocolonial geopolitical strategies. SURYIA NAYAK is a senior lecturer in social work, group analyst and activist. Suryia has over 40 years’ experience of grassroot actions to end racialised misogyny. Suryia insists on the application of decolonial Black feminist methodologies and theory and wrote the Decolonising Group Analysis Report (2023) calling for an intersectionality redesign of how group analysis is done. LAYA HOOSHYARI is a final year doctoral candidate based in MIE (UoM), psychoanalyst and activist.
