How a Star Fish ended up in the village of Offchurch during WW2.
About this Event

This month’s talk explores the remarkable story of how a “starfish” came to be found in the village of Offchurch during the Second World War — a tale that opens the door to the wider world of wartime deception.

The talk will examine how, throughout history, armies have used illusion and misdirection to shape what the enemy believed: from the legendary Trojan Horse to the stirring pipe bands of Scottish regiments, and culminating in the ingenious Operation Mincemeat. These examples reveal a consistent truth — in conflict, appearances are often carefully crafted, and all is not what it seems.

The evening will be led by David G. P. Morse, whose historic talks combine clear storytelling with a PowerPoint presentation and a selection of artefacts linked to the subject. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine these items after the talk.

🎟️ Tickets are £14 per person, which include after‑hours access to the museum, a selection of wine, soft drinks, and a buffet!
