The Rama Nama `the name of Rama` is the Hindu practice of ritually chanting the name of the deity Rama, an avatar of Vishnu. Rama`s name is often chanted or sung within several tradition.
The Vishnu avatar named Rama is also known by other names. He is called Ramachandra (beautiful, lovely moon), or Dasarathi (son of Dasaratha), or Raghava (descendant of Raghu, solar dynasty in Hindu cosmology). He is also known as Ram Lalla (Infant form of Rama).
Many composers in carnatic music have written and sung praises on him - Tyagaraja, Svati Tirunal, Bhadrachala Ramadas, Annamacharya, Arunachala Kavi, Papanasam Sivan, Muthuswami Dikshitar, Patnam Subramanya Iyer, Mysore Vasudevacharya, M D Ramanathan, Haridasas, Purandara Dasa, Prayaga Ranga Dasa, walajapet Venkataramana Bhagavathar, Mysore Sadashiva Rao , Poochi Srinivasa Iyengar, papnasam Sivan. Ambujam Krishna,Ramaswami Sivan, Annamacharya, Muthiah Bhagavathar, Tulsidas, Kambar, Oothukadu Venkata Kavi to name a few
SALIENT FEATURES OF THE FESTIVAL:The online festival will be webcast live in Charsur OTT platform from the 15th of December until the 31st of December 2025 and be available for one year in the platform.
The theme of Charsur December Season Music Festival 2025 is Rama Nama – a Divine Mantra
Ø The festival will feature more than 175 artistes.
Ø The concerts duration will be a minimum of 2 hours each.
Ø The festival will be a mix of vocal, instrumental, talks and lec-dems, Harikatha, Namasankeertanams all of it based on the theme
Ø The festival features very experienced, Popular & Young artistes
Ø Kritis /songs unique to each concert – no repetitions – more than 250 Kritis will be presented recorded and preserved
Ø Presentation of rare and popular Kritis
Ø The festival is captured on Multi Camera 4K Video and 24-bit Audio.
Ø The Backdrop is designed to bring out the theme of the festival.
