Please join us at the New Haven Lawn Club on December 4, 2024 at 12PM for lunch and Sterling Professor of International Law at Yale Law School Harold Koh's talk: "Will Our Next President Be a National Security Threat?" Based on Professor Koh’s forthcoming book .
A three-course plated luncheon will be served. Free parking is available at the New Haven Lawn Club, which is handicap and ADA Accessible, and on the Yale Shuttle and CT Transit bus lines.
Harold Hongju Koh is the Sterling Professor of International Law at Yale Law School, where he has taught since 1985 and served as its fifteenth Dean from 2004 to 2009. From 2009 to 2013, Koh took leave to serve as the Legal Adviser of the U.S. Department of State, a role in which he earned the Secretary of State's Distinguished Service Award. He is recognized as one of the nation's foremost experts in international law, national security, and human rights. Koh has also served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.
Koh has received 18 honorary degrees and over 30 awards for his work, including lifetime achievement honors from Columbia Law School and the American Bar Association. He has authored or co-authored nine books, published more than 200 articles, and litigated cases in U.S. and international courts. A Fellow of the American Philosophical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Koh holds degrees from Harvard and Oxford, clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, and has worked in private practice and the U.S. Department of Justice.
