About this Event
Happy December!
As the nights draw in and the year winds down, we’re curling up with something warm, whimsical, and wonderfully bite-sized: The Kanagawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai. This charming collection of short stories introduces us to a quiet Kyoto restaurant where food unlocks memories and sometimes even solves a mystery. It’s soothing, tender, and full of delicious details to savour.
This month’s theme is short and cosy, and Kashiwai delivers both in spades. Each gentle story offers a soft puzzle wrapped in the comforting rituals of food, friendship, and reflection. It’s the perfect December read, like a warm meal shared on a cold day.
For the social part of the evening, we’ll end the year with something a little special: a book swap! Bring a book you’ve loved (or are ready to pass on), and leave with a surprise one in return. Everyone will go home with a small gift to mark the close of the year.
This will be our final event of the year, so don’t miss it! Join us for gentle mysteries, warm conversation, and a festive farewell to 2025 in our cosy corner of London.
