Debate: The Misuse Of Statistics is More Damaging Than The Lack of Data

"There are three kinds of lies: lies damned lies and statistics" as Mark Twain said (attributing it to Benjamin Disraeli).

The Governor of Hong Kong for many years refused to collate and send statistics to the London government because he felt it would only undermine the laissez-faire free-market policies they were benefitting from so greatly.

Can the misuse of statistics be even more problematic than the lack of any data? That is the issue our debaters will grapple with and you can give YOUR opinion during the Floor Contribution section. During the first half of the meeting there will be an improvised mini-debate session – Table Topic Debates where anyone may get called to defend or oppose a motion in 2 minutes (voluntarily of course).

During the main debate 3 debaters will propose the motion 3 debaters will oppose it

and YOU may give your opinion during Floor Contributions.

The meeting will be held on the first floor of the Windsor Castle pub in Victoria a beautiful Victorian pub with great food drinks and reasonable prices. Make sure to give the code word:
