Death-Head Hawk Moth Pinning Workshop - Abbotsford, BC

Join us for a hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop exploring the fascinating world of insect preservation! In this workshop, you'll learn how to properly pin and spread a Death’s-head Hawkmoth. They are one of nature’s most iconic and mysterious moths, known for the skull-like pattern on their thorax.

This workshop is designed for those with no prior experience in entomology or specimen preparation. Whether you're a curious naturalist, artist, or collector, you'll walk away with both knowledge and a beautifully preserved moth of your own.

• One Death’s-head Hawkmoth per participant
• All tools and materials needed for pinning and spreading
• Step-by-step instruction and individual guidance
• Tips on care and display

You’ll Learn:

• How to safely rehydrate and handle delicate specimens
• Proper techniques for spreading wings and positioning limbs
• Best practices for pinning and drying for display or study

• All materials are included in the ticket price
• This workshop involves working with real specimens; participants must be comfortable handling preserved insects
• Ages 16+ (or accompanied by a guardian)

This workshop will be located at our pop up event in Abbotsford BC! We will also be hosting a pop up shop to browse and purchase the wonders from our retail boutique.
