we’re talking death! join us with special guest, death and grief worker, tawnya musser of dear departures for an afternoon of death planning
About this Event

join us on Sunday April 28th from 12:30-2:30pm at The Tattered Cover Colfax -- we’re talking death! this month i'm delighted to share that we have a special guest, death and grief worker, Tawnya Musser of Dear Departures.

tawnya will chat with us about our options in death and dying including rights and protections for trans folx, body processing options, and home funerals. afterwards we'll have a group activity to imagine our plans with all the juicy new info we've learned. together we'll imagine our funeral playlists! our viewing outfits! if we want to be composted or water cremated!

it’ll be creative and heavy and unsettling and supported and informative and joyful all in the sweet company of queer community and books. all supplies will be provided.

this gathering is not a support group. my intention is to provide a cozy space for queer and trans community to gather in mutal grief and cultivate joy through being together. feel free to come equipt with a care plan for yourself if things get too heavy so you have the autonomy to take care as you need <3 support items like fidget toys, blankets, small stuffed animals, etc., are welcome.

about our guest: Tawnya (she/her), founder of Dear Departures, is a death & grief worker with a variety of offerings including community deathcare/home funeral advocacy and education. She crafts custom end-of-life ceremony and ritual as a Life-Cycle Celebrant, she offers end-of-life planning and support as a death doula, and she facilitates grief support groups. She is an emeritus board member of the National Home Funeral Alliance (NHFA) and co-wrote their Home Funerals Guidebook. She also co-authored an end-of-life planning guide for OPEN (Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Non-monogamy) for non-monogamous folx. Additionally, Tawnya speaks freely about her lived experience of suicidal ideation and adovcates for anti-carceral support apparoaches, and autronomy.
