Deanna Pries Horsemanship of Shade Tree Stables is coming back to the PNW for another exciting 2 day clinic! Deanna's focus is to help horses and handlers understand how to work together in a healthy & comfortable way. Her primary focus is understanding the horses body & mind to create a successful relationship between horse & handler. The theories being presented in this clinic are:
Day 1 - Bending and Collection, What They Are and What They Are Not- This lecture will challenge the knowledge of what many believe is true bending & collection. In this class we will discuss what occurs anatomically in the horse’s body to achieve both bending & collection in a functional and healthy way. Attendants will be given tools to spot the difference between heathy & unhealthy movements. *This is a qualified Continuing Education class for animal body workers through NBCAAM. By attending you will receive 1 CE credit.
Day 2 - Motivating Horses & Addressing Their Mental State. This class discusses training concepts on how to teach the horse's brain vs mechanically putting the horse in the position we want them in. When you train, or teach the brain, the horse understands the movement & can do these movements in self carriage, not force. Once handlers experience this, they won't want to go back! It is so rewarding to work with a horse that nickers when it completes a request! We go over (in a nutshell, because training is an ongoing endeavor), how to achieve this & most importantly how to keep the horse out of the Sympathetic Nervous System, so the horse can actually learn & retain information.
We will start each morning with about an hour and a half of class time. Once class is finished, participants will start their 45 minute one on one lesson with Deanna. Each participant gets 1 lesson a day.
You have the option of participating 1 day or both days. Auditors get to the chance to attend both classes and watch each unique session as Deanna works with horse and handlers 1 on 1.
