Kriyacharya Surendra Conti visits us from Ananda Portland to offer this engaging, practical and inspiring conversation about death and dying. Surendra writes:What is death? Is it loss of life? Or is it merely passing from one dimension to another, as if through a doorway from one room to the next?
In this interactive workshop, we will look deeply at life’s “final exam” from personal and spiritual points of view; discuss and share stories of how to deal with loss, grief and despair; contemplate the nature of life beyond death for loved ones and ourselves; and perform an Astral Ascension in celebration of our own transition to the plane of higher consciousness that awaits us. (Bring a photo of yourself to put on the altar.)
Surendra is an alumnus of Ananda Washington. He and his wife Tushti lived in the Lynnwood community for six years. He has since resided and served in several Ananda communities and centers, including Palo Alto, where he and Tushti were co-managers of East West Bookshop in Mountain View for nine years; Pune, India, where they were the spiritual directors for three years until her passing; and presently Ananda Portland, where he was the spiritual director from 2019-2023.
He is also the author of five books of essays that offer observations and thoughts on this journey of life that we share and how to meet the unending challenges it poses. His website, letmerememberthis.com, includes excerpts from each of these, of which Aging Into Ageless is the most recent.
Surendra loves to lead this workshop for the wisdom and comfort it offers. He is delighted on this occasion to be joined by Nayaswami Jamuna, who was his first Ananda meditation teacher in 1996!
Cost $35.
Surendra will also give the Sunday Service talk on Sunday.
