Following the success of "Strange Days," Dead On A Sunday continued to push musical boundaries with the release of the cover EP "Undercover Volume 1" in late 2022. The EP not only featured the viral cover/mashup of “Dammit/After Dark” but also showcased the band's ability to navigate diverse various musical landscapes. This eclectic mix of genres has become a hallmark of Dead On A Sunday's sound, captivating listeners with its dynamic and ever-evolving nature. The band's popularity skyrocketed with viral success on TikTok, where a video comparing vocalist, Ross Ryan's voice to the iconic Bob Belcher from "Bob's Burgers" became a digital sensation. This humorous and unexpected introduction led to the creation of the genre "Bobcore," a term coined by fans and embraced by Dead On A Sunday themselves. Bobcore is a reflection of the band's ability to seamlessly blend genres and infuse their music with a distinct personality. Garnering millions of streams across various platforms, Dead On A Sunday's music has resonated with a global audience, solidifying their status as a musical powerhouse. The band's DIY ethos sets them apart, as they handle all aspects of their project independently, from writing and recording to marketing and promotion. **Devon Thompson** (Los Angeles, CA)
Born in Los Angeles early this century, Devon Thompson comments that her earliest memory was punching through a pane of glass, to see if she could. Quite successful in this venture, profuse amounts of blood, stitches, parental trauma, and slight fear of her next move meant performance art was already championed. Growing up a pale, emaciated misfit, Devon found her home listening to music. A California child of the sun she was not meant to be. Early Siouxsie, The Animals, The Cramps, Bill Evans and the Beatles permeated her developmental years. By the age of 19 Devon had been playing Los Angeles clubs with her bands for many seasons. Her recordings are thus far lingering with the Bel Canto of Roy Orbison, the delicacy of Harriett Wheeler and the sheer aggression of PJ Harvey. Devon has trimmed her ensemble to the bare essentials for maximum impact. Devoid of pre-records, and modern gimmicks, Devon keeps her songs and show brutally honest in delivery. Bass, Drums and her library of beautiful Guitars allow Devon’s audience to witness the most delicate surgery to primordial amputation of sound in the the same set.
