More about this training
SAFEMinds equips school staff to become 'Champions' in the use of the NIP it in the bud! early intervention approach. Staff will learn how to incorporate SAFEMinds resources into their school’s existing professional development and student wellbeing initiatives.
For ethical and clinical considerations, participants need to be available and present for the entirety of the training. Part-time attendance is not available.
SAFEMinds is all about:
- Enhancing mental health support for children and young people experiencing distress and emerging mental health difficulties.
- Promoting parent and carer engagement to better support children’s mental health.
- Creating strong referral pathways between schools and community youth and mental health services.
- Learn how to respond to self-harm in schools using the NIP it in the bud! approach.
- Dive into the NIP it in the bud! Toolkit, including a case study from SAFEMinds Online.
- Practice using the full NIP it in the bud! approach with another case study.
- Reflect on how to implement the NIP it in the bud! approach at your school

On the Day:
- Arrival: It’s important to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time, as access will be denied if you arrive late, for clinical governance and emotional safety reasons.

- Breaks: Regular breaks will be provided, along with a longer lunch break. BYO food, snacks, drinks, or even coffee to keep you refreshed.
