About the training: De-escalation training provides skills & assessment tools to help front-line workers connect with those in crisis, maintain personal safety, and recognize when someone might need a higher level of care. The training focuses on a person-centered model rooted in the belief that everyone deserves respect and dignity, regardless of their situation. Our role is to be available to help out where we can, with the least intervention necessary to facilitate a healthy and safe environment for everyone.
About the presenter: Kate Gillespie, LCSW, is The Executive Director of Luminescence Counseling and Consulting. She is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and training facilitator. Kate’s focus is on supporting women, gender-diverse humans, and those identifying within the LGBTQ+ community. With twenty years of experience in the mental health field, Kate has gained knowledge of a diverse array of therapeutic settings and modalities, including wilderness therapy, state psychiatric hospital, emergency department, mobile crisis response, and harm reduction at festivals and events. Through traditional and non-traditional practice models, Kate has developed her own unique way of meeting people where they are. She has a mission to inspire people to make lasting changes in their lives and to open their minds to new possibilities and healthier ways of being.
