Join us at The DC Experience for a day of networking and career training specifically designed for college and university students.
About this Event

The DC Experience is a program designed for college and university students (18 years+) who have an interest in gaining a direct experience, exposure and understanding of how the political machine of Washington, DC functions in relation to their degree program and future internship/employment options. Each session is led by Results International Founder/CEO Dr. Phoenix Mourning-Star, a 2023 US Presidential Management Fellow (PMF), who has extensive experience In national and international governmental affairs, non-govemmental activities, science, research and preparing students for careers through mentoring. Students will spend a week in Washington, DC to see what professional life in DC is really like. During one intensive week, students will become part of a focused team of professionals advancing their interests on a series of topics based upon their self-designated teams in our science or social tracks.

Mornings will be spent in boardroom style interactive sessions developing personal brands, including: resumes, elevator pitches, memo writing, socialprofessional media image make-overs, preparing for interviews, job and internship applications and practicing presenting themselves in fast-paced, high pressure environments.
In the afternoons, participants will put their morning skills to the test on and around Capitol Hill at informational presentations, meetings and Q&A's with lobbyists, Congressional Hearings, think-tanks, NGOs, government agencies, graduate admissions directors at DC area universities and after-work socialevents in the heart of the Nation's Capitol.
Applicantswill get to meet with and discuss career options with professionals, managers and staff at the Environmental Protection, Department of Agriculture, Think Tanks and Senate and Congressional offices.
Due to the generous donations by our new clients – we are able to reduce the previously advertised rate to $2,450/person for each session, this rate still includes registration, hotel (double-occupancy) but does not include airfare/travel to our location in DC.

Group/package rates are available for 

  • Groups of 3 participants ($6,275),
  • Groups of 5 participants ($9,500)
  • Groups of 10 participants ($16,000)

and/or campus clubs/student organizations. Scholarships and discounts are available for AmeriCorps students/ alum, Rotary/RotarAct members, American Red Cross Lifeguards, Student Government leaders (elected and appointed) and students from Campus Compact member campuses.
