About this Event

WHY GO?

Immerse yourself in the grandeur Bavarian beauty of mountains, lakes and mediaeval architecture. The castle is a 19th-century historicist palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen.

Neuschwanstein Castle is a Bavarian masterpiece nestled amidst the breathtaking Alpine landscape. Surrounded by lush forests and overlooking pristine lakes, Neuschwanstein Castle is an obvious choice for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Embark on a magical journey through time and aesthetics, creating timeless memories in this architectural gem.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?

  • Neuschwanstein castle: King Ludwig II, renowned as the Swan King and Fairytale King, commissioned the construction of Schloss Neuschwanstein. This castle, also known as "New Swan," served as his mediaeval sanctuary nestled in the mountains, providing an escape from the rigours of court life and a gateway to his imaginative realm. Ludwig, a fervent enthusiast of music and theatre, held a deep admiration for Richard Wagner, the composer of the opera Lohengrin. Neuschwanstein is the inspiration for Disney's “Cinderella” castle. The castle is also the inspiration for the “Sleeping Beauty's” castle in Disneyland. The castle is a 19th century Romanesque revival castle built under the Bavarian King Ludwig II, located above the village of Hohenschwangau. He had Neuschwanstein built in the style of the old German knight's castles
  • Marienbrücke: also known as the Pöllat Bridge, spans the Pöllat gorge, providing a direct view of the castle. Named after Queen Marie, the bridge was initially a wooden rider bridge commissioned by King Maximilian II of Bavaria in 1845. If a visit inside the castle allows you to see the exclusive views the Fairytale King would wish to enjoy for himself, Marienbrücke’s view of the castle is postcard worthy. Most locals bring their visiting friends to this bridge for the Disney’s view of the castle.
  • Explore Füssen: Between Alpine peaks and lake paradise, Füssen in the Allgäu at the southern end of the " Romantic Road " is one of the most impressive Bavarian holiday regions.
