Please note: This ticket is for launching your own craft – It is NOT for equipment hire.
Rudyard Lake Ltd do not supply Kayaks, SUPs, Canoes or Dinghies.
ABOUT
This ticket permits 1x lake user to launch their own Kayak, Canoe or SUP (paddleboard) on the day of their choosing from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
The ticket INCLUDES PARKING at the Dam Head.
The Dam Head Car Park shuts at 5:30pm we kindly ask you to allow adequate time to get back on dry land and pack your equipment away.

Alternatively, ask for one at the Ranger’s Office (Activity Centre). You may be asked to present a valid Rod License.
LIFE JACKETS: The ticket also includes Life Jacket rental. Please ask a member of staff usually found around the Rangers’ Office/Activity Centre.
INFLATABLES: We allow purpose-built inflatable canoes and kayaks on Rudyard Lake. Again, the use of these is at your own risk. Flotation toys e.g Lilos, floating rings etc are not permitted!!
DOGS: We’ve recently had a lot of people asking if they can take their dog out on their SUP/Kayak. Yes, that is ok with us, but again, you do so 100% at your own risk.

User Agreement: Launch of users own craft
Water activities can be dangerous. To help keep everyone safe, happy and legal you are asked to familiarise yourself with the following rules and sign to say that you agree to them.
Surveillance and insurance:
· The ranger service does not provide surveillance of the lake, however, in case of an emergency contact the ranger team on the mobile number provided.
· All craft must have at least 3rd party insurance cover and be in a suitable condition for safe use. Failure to do so may render you personally liable.
Safety and clothing:
· Slipway launching is at your own risk.
· A correctly fitted buoyancy aid or lifejacket must be worn at all times. Non-swimmers must also be accompanied by a swimmer.
· Wet suits or dry suits are compulsory for all users, except keelboat sailors, from the 1st November to the 30th April.
· Keelboat sailors are advised to wear lifejackets although buoyancy aids are acceptable. If sailing alone an auto inflating lifejacket is compulsory.
· All users must wear appropriate clothing for the activity.
· Solo paddleboarding and kayaking and sailing is not recommended.
· All users must be able to self-rescue.
Ability and age:
· Beginner users of kayaks and paddleboards of less than one days paddling experience are advised not proceed beyond the end of the yacht moorings.
· An adult must accompany a person under 16yrs of age on the water.
· The consumption of alcohol or drugs before or during water activity is forbidden.
· Please do not approach the reed beds or mud flats at the north end of the lake as birds nest and feed in this area.
Dangers on and in the water:
· Always keep a lookout for other craft and avoid a collision.
· Use the circulatory system if advised by staff.
· Avoid trees overhanging the lake.
· Avoid the north of the lake where the bed is composed of deep mud.
· If any user feels chest or head pain especially after falling into the water call 999 before alerting the ranger service.
Weather:
· Launching is dependent on weather conditions and is at the discretion of the ranger service.
· On hearing thunder or seeing lightening, leave the water as soon as possible preferably at the dam end pontoon, the sailing club or sea scout centre.
Hygiene:
· Due to possible infection from the water you are advised to wash or sanitise hands before eating. If you feel unwell after your bell boating session you should seek medical attention and explain that you have been in contact with open water.
Conservation:
· Please do not approach the reed beds or mud flats at the north end of the lake as birds nest and feed in this area.
