Join us for the artist talk a reception for Dawn Dark Mountain.The artist talk is from 5-6 pm in the Arts and Communications Center Room S149, the reception is from 6-7:30 pm in the Annex Gallery.
Dawn Dark Mountain an Oneida artist from Wisconsin specializing in watercolors. Her painting style has been referred to as “magical realism.” She uses a controlled style to explore stories and traditions from her Woodland culture. She likes to translate traditional Iroquois beadwork designs into patterns and borders and each work references traditional meanings. For this exhibition, Dawn Dark Mountain will feature her series of the different moon cycles. “The Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people honor the cycle of life in all of our ceremonies and thanksgivings. We say that the Moon is our Grandmother and she has thirteen names in the course of a year.”
Dawn Dark Mountain: Thirteen Moons will be on display in the Annex Gallery, Arts and Communications Center room N204 October 9 - 30.
