About this Event

We are thrilled to host award-winning novelist David Peace to discuss his latest extraordinary novel, Munichs. From the author of The Damned Utd and Red or Dead comes another magisterial reimagining of British football history, as Peace charts the devastating aftermath of the Munich air crash and the drive to rebuild Manchester United FC.

David Peace - named in 2003 as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists - was born and brought up in Yorkshire. He is the author of eleven novels including the Red Riding Quartet, adapted for television by Channel Four in 2009, GB84, which was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, The Damned Utd, Red or Dead, which was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize in 2013, and most recently Tokyo Redux. He lives in Tokyo.

Ashley Hickson-Lovence is a novelist, university lecturer and former school teacher with a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia. Ashley’s debut novel The 392 was published by OWN IT! in 2019. His second novel Your Show, published by Faber in 2022, was longlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize and shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Awards. His third book Wild East, a young adult novel-in-verse, was published by Penguin in 2024. He is currently editing his latest novel About to Fall Apart and his debut poetry collection Why I am Not a Bus Driver. He grew up in London but now lives in Norwich.

Please note: Book and ticket option includes a copy of Munichs (RRP. £20) available for collection on the night.
