Join us at the Stawell Football Club Clubrooms on April 3, 2026 at 6:00 PM (AEST) to celebrate the launch of David Griffin's book That Race (Stawell '96-'15 Inspiring Stories).
Cathy Freeman is a star who shines on as an inspiration. She is amongst the best athletes Australia and the world has seen. Three months before the Atlanta Olympics, her career took off at Stawell, a whistle stop town on the drive from Melbourne to Adelaide Australia.
That Race, celebrated the 1996 Stawell women's 400 metres, and the rise of a superstar. But it's much more. It's the six other women in that race, plus eight from other sports who's journeys will stay with us. Each story explores significant life moments away from the roar of the crowd.
That Race is for all of us. Each day in ways seen or unseen, in different landes and at different speeds, we all run our own race.
Whether you’re a fan of athletics or just love a good story, this event is for you. Don’t miss out on meeting David and hearing firsthand about these unforgettable moments!
100% of author proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to charity.

Books will be available for purchase at $30.

Entry point is Napier St gate of Central Park. No other entries will be open at this time for event entry.
